Description
To oversee the credit granting process, including the consistent application of a credit policy, periodic credit reviews of existing customers, and the assessment of creditworthiness of potential customers.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Evaluate the creditworthiness of new and existing customers using trade references, credit reports, and internal criteria.
Develop, implement, and continuously improve credit policies and procedures to align with business goals.
Monitor customer accounts to identify overdue payments and proactively address potential risks.
Collaborate with sales, operations, and customer service to ensure smooth client onboarding and account management.
Negotiate payment terms with clients and recommend appropriate credit limits.
Lead collections efforts and manage relationships with external collection agencies if necessary.
Prepare regular reports on credit risk, aging analysis, collections, and bad debt provisions.
Ensure compliance with legal, tax, and regulatory requirements regarding credit and collections.
Train and mentor junior credit and accounts receivable staff.
Coordinate with the legal team on disputes and legal recovery when required
Requirements
Qualifications:
CPA qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field;
5+ years of credit management experience, preferably in a logistics, freight forwarding, or transport sector.
Proven experience in financial management, accounting, or a similar role.
Skills:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
