  • Event Management Consultancy: Organize high-level stakeholder meetings, donor events, and workshops for NGOs and private institutions.

Project Background

The Uganda Refugee Resilience Initiative (URRI) aims to enhance climate resilience among refugees and host communities while promoting inclusive and environmentally sustainable development in refugee-affected areas. The programme is funded by the Royal Danish Embassy in Kampala.

Job Purpose

The URRI Secretariat & Communications Support Officer will strengthen programme visibility and ensure smooth coordination of meetings, workshops, and events. The role combines organizational support, documentation, branding, and communications responsibilities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Secretariat Support and Events Management (65%)

  • Support planning, coordination, and documentation of quarterly Joint Management Group meetings.
  • Organize annual IMC meetings including logistics, invitations, programme development, and facilitation.
  • Coordinate field visits including itinerary development and briefing notes.
  • Support mid-term and end-of-programme reviews.
  • Prepare participant lists, meeting minutes, reports, and photo documentation.
  • Follow up on action points from meetings and missions.

2. Communication, Branding and Visibility (35%)

  • Manage URRI social media channels including LinkedIn, X, and Instagram.
  • Develop and maintain a centralized photo and video repository.
  • Collect and package human-interest stories and multimedia content.
  • Draft press releases, articles, and success stories.
  • Ensure compliance with DANIDA visibility requirements.
  • Provide editorial and visual design support to partners.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Social Sciences, Communication, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in programme coordination, communications, or events management.
  • Proven experience organizing high-level meetings and workshops.
  • Experience managing organizational social media platforms.
  • Strong writing, editing, and documentation skills.
  • Experience working in donor-funded or multi-partner programmes.
  • Photography, videography, or graphic design skills are an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal and multitasking abilities.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
