About the Job

Standard Chartered Bank Uganda is currently seeking a dedicated and results-oriented individual to join its collections team as a Tele Collections Officer. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor the day-to-day activities of live customer accounts and assess reasons for account delinquencies.
• Engage customers through phone calls to arrange mutually agreeable payment plans and negotiate settlements in line with bank policies.
• Identify and escalate unusual cases or discrepancies to the Team Leader or Collections Head for further action.
• Track and meet monthly individual and team collection targets consistently.
• Adhere to all operational risk and compliance frameworks during the collections process.
• Collaborate with Business Relationship Managers (RMs) to monitor employer-related performance and propose actionable recovery plans.
• Maintain high service standards when addressing internal and external client inquiries and complaints.
• Safeguard customer data confidentiality and adhere to data protection policies at all times.
• Follow up with the operations team to ensure prompt updating of all customer payments and records.
• Participate in risk management by identifying, escalating, and helping resolve compliance or conduct-related issues.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proven knowledge of banking collections processes and recovery mechanisms.
• Strong payment negotiation and communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
• Experience working in a banking or financial institution is an added advantage.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration).
• Additional certifications in customer relationship management or collections are desirable.
