Position Summary
The Technical Officer will contribute to the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of family planning and maternal, newborn, and child health (FP/MNCH) interventions under The Challenge Initiative (TCI) in Uganda. Key Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Implementation Support
- Work with local government and facility teams to operationalize FP/MNCH work plans and high-impact service delivery interventions in line with national guidelines and TCI strategies.
- Provide on-site technical assistance to public and private health facilities to strengthen quality of integrated FP and MNCH services and best practices.
- Support planning and execution of training, coaching, mentorship, and supportive supervision activities for health workers on evidence-based interventions.
- Assist in organizing and facilitating capacity strengthening sessions, technical forums, and field-level learning events.
Data Use, Monitoring, and Quality Assurance
- Promote routine use of data through regular data review and quality assurance (DQA) meetings with local government and facility teams to inform adaptive programming and improvement actions.
- Support local teams to interpret and use health data for planning, performance monitoring, advocacy, and resource allocation.
- Document implementation progress, challenges, lessons learned, and success stories for reporting and shared learning.
- Contribute to the development of dashboards, progress updates, and analytical briefs that summarize key program performance indicators.
Service Availability and Supply Chain Support
- Collaborate with regional supply chain actors to monitor FP commodity availability and address bottlenecks in forecasting, quantification, and last-mile distribution.
- Support government and facility teams to identify and respond to stock-outs, gaps in commodity security, and logistics challenges.
Governance, Coordination, and Stakeholder Engagement
- Support local government health management teams to strengthen governance, coordination, accountability, and leadership practices related to FP/MNCH programming.
- Engage with a wide range of stakeholders including district health officials, implementing partners, facility managers, and community representatives to ensure alignment and shared ownership of program activities.
- Participate in technical working groups, health sector coordination platforms, and program review meetings as required.
Documentation, Reporting, and Knowledge Sharing
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of field activities, outputs, and expenditures in accordance with Jhpiego and donor requirements.
- Support the preparation of routine program reports, activity summaries, quarterly progress updates, and annual performance reports.
- Contribute technical inputs to knowledge management platforms, communities of practice, and TCI University learning modules.
Required Qualifications and Experience
