Makerere University e-HRMS is seeking a dedicated Swimming Pool Attendant to oversee daily pool operations, ensure guest safety, and maintain a clean, well-organized pool environment. This role is ideal for someone with excellent customer service skills, strong attention to detail, and a passion for maintaining high safety and hygiene standards in aquatic facilities.

Job Summary

The Swimming Pool Attendant will ensure the safety and well-being of swimmers, maintain hygiene and cleanliness around the pool, monitor pool activities, and enforce safety protocols. This position requires attentiveness, responsibility, and the ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

As the Swimming Pool Attendant, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Pool Supervision & Guest Safety

    • Monitor all swimming pool activities from opening to closing hours.

    • Ensure that safety rules are followed at all times by guests and staff.

    • Keep a watchful eye on all swimmers, especially children and inexperienced swimmers.

    • Be ready to respond quickly to emergencies, including rescuing swimmers in distress.

  2. Pool Area Setup & Maintenance

    • Set up pool furniture such as umbrellas, loungers, and tables for guest comfort.

    • Ensure pool surroundings are tidy, hazard-free, and visually appealing.

    • Maintain pool cleanliness by clearing trash, used towels, and empty glasses.

  3. Guest Service

    • Greet guests warmly and assist them with seating, towels, and refreshments.

    • Attend to guest requests promptly and courteously.

    • Create a welcoming and safe environment for all visitors.

  4. Water Safety & Hygiene

    • Maintain water quality by following safety and hygiene standards.

    • Assist in routine pool equipment checks and maintenance.

    • Ensure the swimming pool meets health and sanitation requirements.

  5. Incident Reporting

    • Report any accidents, injuries, or damages to the supervisor immediately.

    • Keep accurate records of pool usage and incidents.

  6. Other Duties

    • Carry out any additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.


Required Qualifications

  • Education: Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE).

  • Certifications: First Aid and CPR Certification (mandatory).

  • Experience: Previous experience as a pool attendant, lifeguard, or in a hospitality setting is an advantage.

  • Knowledge of swimming pool equipment and basic maintenance.

Tenure of Appointment

  • Contract Duration: 4 years.

  • Age Limit: Applicants should not exceed 55 years at the time of application.
