Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Supply Chain and Logistics Manager to lead our Hass Avocado operations across Uganda. The successful candidate will oversee the entire supply chain—from farmer registration and field extension to harvesting, logistics, and digital traceability. This role is critical to ensuring efficient and cost-effective delivery of premium avocados for export markets.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Farmer Network Management

• Lead the registration and onboarding of Hass Avocado farmers into the Agricado supply chain.
• Build and maintain strong farmer relationships to ensure adherence to quality and sustainability standards.
• Maintain an up-to-date farmer database with accurate compliance records.

Extension Team Oversight

• Manage and support field extension teams delivering agronomic support.
• Set clear performance targets and provide ongoing capacity building.
• Ensure the effectiveness of farmer training programs.

Harvesting & Logistics Planning

• Design and execute harvesting schedules based on fruit maturity and market readiness.
• Coordinate seamless logistics from farms to packhouses, ensuring traceability and quality.
• Collaborate with export and logistics teams to align supply with demand.

Cost and Process Optimization

• Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive operational efficiency.
• Streamline communication across teams to improve workflow.
• Utilize data to inform decision-making and improve supply chain performance.

Digital Tools and Traceability

• Oversee the use of digital traceability tools for monitoring and reporting.
• Ensure accuracy in field data collection and compliance with export protocols.

Training and Capacity Building

• Organize farmer training on avocado best practices, post-harvest handling, and certifications.
• Collaborate with agronomists, NGOs, and certification bodies to support farmer development.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in horticulture or avocado field operations.
• Proven ability to manage farmer networks and extension teams.
• Strong knowledge in cost control, logistics, and supply chain optimization.
• Hands-on experience with farm management or traceability digital tools.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Willingness to work in field-based and fast-paced environments.

Preferred Attributes

• Familiarity with Global GAP or other agricultural certification schemes.
• Passion for rural development and farmer empowerment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of local languages is an added advantage.
