Speech and Language Therapist (4 Positions)

Full-Time | Location: Kisubi, Uganda
Deadline: 19th July 2025

Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services for People with Disability in Uganda (CoRSU Hospital) is seeking four qualified Speech and Language Therapists to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidates will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, and communication challenges in both children and adults with medical and surgical conditions.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Assessment & Evaluation

  • Assess and document clients’ speech and language needs and therapy progress.

  • Refer clients to appropriate specialists (e.g., ENT, Audiology) for further intervention.

  • Conduct augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) assessments where needed.

2. Treatment & Intervention

  • Provide one-on-one, group, and community-based therapy sessions based on patient needs.

  • Collaborate with caregivers and the rehabilitation team to ensure holistic treatment.

  • Train patients and caregivers on the use of speech and language therapy techniques.

  • Participate in ward rounds, contributing to treatment planning and patient-centered care.

  • Offer continuous support, updates, and consultation to patients’ families and teams.

3. Multidisciplinary Collaboration

  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and reviews.

  • Share progress and treatment plans with other medical professionals.

  • Refer patients for specialized external services when necessary.

4. Documentation & Protocols

  • Maintain accurate clinical records of all therapy interventions.

  • Contribute to developing and updating condition-specific rehabilitation protocols.

5. Occupational Health & Safety

  • Comply with CoRSU’s health and safety policies and wear PPE as required.

  • Identify and report workplace hazards or incidents early.

  • Actively support workplace well-being initiatives.

6. Continuing Education & Research

  • Engage in ongoing professional development and training.

  • Participate in research and quality improvement programs.

7. Financial & Resource Management

  • Ensure responsible use of resources and adherence to unit budgets.

  • Submit timely reports on consumables and therapy-related materials.

8. Risk Management & Compliance

  • Assess risks based on patient history and treatment plans.

  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and uphold ethical standards.

  • Comply with all CoRSU hospital policies and Allied Health Council regulations.


Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Language Therapy from a recognized institution.

  • Registration with the Allied Health Professional Council.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in rehabilitation or healthcare settings.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong clinical expertise in speech and language therapy techniques.

  • Knowledge of quality improvement processes.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to work in diverse, multicultural environments.

  • Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving abilities.
