Job Overview

Standard Chartered Bank Uganda is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Servicing & Transacting Officer to join its Retail and Wealth Banking Operations team. This role ensures seamless processing of debit card requests, accurate document management, and high-standard client servicing while complying with internal and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Duties

  • Manage debit card issuance, reissuance, and updates to static customer data.
  • Oversee dormant and unclaimed card processes in line with regulatory timelines.
  • Ensure accurate handling, archiving, and retrieval of client and internal documents.
  • Support additional operational and administrative tasks as directed.

2. Risk Management

  • Implement strong operational controls to mitigate risks in client servicing.
  • Address and escalate incidents in collaboration with risk and compliance teams.
  • Work closely with Country and Regional Chief Operating Officers to minimize operational risk.
  • Ensure all operations align with the bank’s Operational Risk Framework and Business Risk Management Standards.

3. Regulatory Compliance & Conduct

  • Follow the Group’s Code of Conduct and promote ethical banking practices.
  • Ensure full compliance with all internal policies and local banking regulations.
  • Actively identify, escalate, and help resolve any compliance concerns.
  • Embody Standard Chartered’s Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients, Financial Crime Compliance, Effective Markets, and The Right Environment.

4. Key Stakeholders

  • Branch Banking and Digital Sales Teams
  • Digital Fulfilment & Product Management Teams (Deposits & Mortgages)
  • Operations and Vendor Partners
  • Risk & Compliance Departments

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and data entry systems.
  • Solid understanding of banking operations, customer service, and internal policies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for managing clients and teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • Capable of handling pressure, multitasking, and resolving operational issues swiftly.
  • Ability to recognize and escalate unusual or suspicious activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related or finance field.
  • Fluency in English is required.
