Job Summary
Malaria Consortium is recruiting a highly experienced Senior Technical Specialist – Immunization to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time position available in one of our offices in Kampala (Uganda), London (UK), or Juba (South Sudan). The role is pivotal to the technical design, strategy, and successful implementation of our growing immunization portfolio.
The position involves providing high-level technical assistance and contributing to systems-level planning to ensure impactful, data-informed immunization programs. The successful candidate will lead efforts to improve vaccination coverage, enhance equity, and increase effectiveness in underserved and high-burden areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic technical input in the design and implementation of routine and campaign-based immunization programs.
- Ensure all immunization projects are grounded in evidence-based strategies and adhere to international best practices.
- Offer systems-level analysis and support to enhance vaccine delivery, coverage, and integration with national health systems.
- Collaborate closely with Ministries of Health, EPI programs, and other stakeholders in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
- Identify and pursue new funding opportunities that align with Malaria Consortium’s immunization strategy.
- Support the technical development of grant proposals and concept notes for donor-funded immunization work.
- Build strategic partnerships to expand Malaria Consortium’s immunization reach and influence.
- Contribute to and lead research initiatives in vaccine-preventable diseases, with publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Represent Malaria Consortium in global forums and technical working groups related to immunization.
Candidate Requirements
- Advanced degree (MPH, MD, PhD) in public health, epidemiology, or a closely related field.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing immunization programs, especially in LMICs.
- Technical expertise in vaccine delivery (routine and campaign), supply systems, and disease surveillance.
- Experience working with national health authorities and immunization programs.
- Familiarity with global immunization frameworks, key actors (e.g., WHO, Gavi, UNICEF), and funding mechanisms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability in technical writing and presenting.
- Strong leadership and cross-cultural team collaboration skills.
- Willingness to travel and work across multiple country contexts.
- Track record of published research in immunization-related fields is a strong asset.
Contract Terms
This is a fixed-term contract for 24 months with potential for renewal based on performance and funding availability. The compensation package will be commensurate with qualifications and location, and will be discussed with shortlisted candidates.
