Position Overview: Senior Tax Associate (2 Positions)

As a Senior Tax Associate, you will work on high-impact tax engagements for a range of clients, including corporations, multinational organizations, and government entities. You will play a central role in shaping effective tax strategies, ensuring compliance, and building strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).

This role requires strong technical knowledge, professional integrity, and a collaborative approach. You’ll be part of a fast-paced environment where leadership, innovation, and continuous learning are encouraged.


Key Responsibilities

✔️ Support the execution of designated tax engagements, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of project deliverables.
✔️ Assist in the development of tax proposals, tenders, and presentations for prospective clients.
✔️ Contribute innovative ideas to enhance Deloitte’s service offerings.
✔️ Prepare tax opinions and tax advisory reports on complex client matters.
✔️ Liaise directly with the URA regarding client audits, objections, and appeals.
✔️ Help clients resolve disputes and respond to assessments from URA.
✔️ Conduct tax risk and opportunity reviews for clients across different industries.
✔️ Draft thought leadership articles and client publications on tax trends and regulations.
✔️ Provide coaching and mentorship to junior team members.
✔️ Engage in internal tax initiatives, departmental projects, and learning programs.
✔️ Stay up-to-date with current tax laws and international regulations.
✔️ Deliver services in line with Deloitte’s quality, risk, and ethical standards.


Required Qualifications and Skills

A Bachelor’s Degree (First or Second Upper) in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, Law, International Business, Economics, or other tax-relevant fields.
Pursuing or completed a professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, ADIT, CTA, or PODITRA is highly desirable.
At least three (3) years of relevant experience in tax, preferably in a professional services firm, international business, or tax authority.
Sound knowledge of Ugandan tax law, international taxation principles, and OECD frameworks.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Must be a Ugandan citizen or legally eligible to work in Uganda.

Advanced knowledge of tax audit procedures, transfer pricing, and compliance strategies.
