Company: Green Power International Limited Location: Kampala (Bugolobi) Job Type: Full-Time Category: Engineering Application Method: Apply by Email or Physical Submission Application Deadline: 12 JanuaryJob Summary
Green Power International Limited is hiring a motivated and technically skilled Sales Engineer to join a growing solar company in Kampala. The role combines engineering knowledge and commercial skills to promote, design, and sell solar energy solutions to residential, commercial, and industrial clients. The successful candidate will support the full sales cycle, from identifying leads and assessing requirements to preparing proposals, providing technical support, and coordinating execution with engineering and installation teams. This opportunity is ideal for a candidate who understands how solar systems and related components work, can translate technical specifications into clear customer value, and can follow through with professional communication until a project is delivered successfully. The role also involves relationship management, market awareness, and consistent performance against assigned sales targets.Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities for solar solutions and related water and energy products.
- Meet prospective and existing clients to understand technical, operational, and commercial requirements.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations that explain system performance, components, and benefits.
- Design basic solar system proposals and provide technical support during customer engagement and decision-making.
- Prepare quotations, proposals, and cost estimates based on customer needs and project scope.
- Coordinate with engineering and installation teams to support smooth project execution and timely delivery.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, follow up on leads, and handle inquiries professionally.
- Achieve assigned sales targets and contribute to company growth through disciplined pipeline management.
- Stay updated on solar technologies, market trends, and competitor activities to improve positioning and solution recommendations.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of total work experience, with at least 1 year in sales.
- Hands-on experience in solar or water-related projects or activities.
- Minimum Diploma in an engineering field. Electrical, Mechanical, Renewable Energy, or related fields are preferred.
- Strong technical understanding of solar systems and related components.
- Good communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel as required for client visits, site assessments, and follow-ups.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in solar PV system sizing and basic design.
- Familiarity with CRM tools and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Customer-focused mindset with practical problem-solving abilities.
What Success Looks Like in This Role
A successful Sales Engineer builds a strong pipeline of qualified leads and consistently converts opportunities into closed sales. The role requires a disciplined approach to customer engagement, accurate technical sizing at a basic level, and clear documentation in proposals and quotations. Success also depends on teamwork. The Sales Engineer must communicate effectively with engineering and installation teams to ensure the solution sold matches what gets delivered on site. Customers should feel guided, informed, and supported throughout the process, from the first meeting to post-installation follow-up. Because the solar market evolves quickly, strong candidates also keep learning. Understanding improvements in panels, inverters, batteries, mounting systems, and system monitoring tools strengthens credibility and helps position solutions competitively. The ability to compare options honestly and recommend the best fit for each client will build long-term trust and repeat business.Work Environment and Client Engagement
This role involves both office-based work and field activity. Expect regular client meetings, calls, and occasional site visits to collect information needed for proposals. Clients may include households looking for backup power, businesses aiming to reduce electricity costs, and industrial customers needing reliable energy solutions for operations. A professional, respectful approach is required, especially when explaining technical details to non-technical decision makers. The role also benefits from a structured routine, including planning daily follow-ups, documenting discussions, and tracking the status of each lead. How to Apply
