Position: Regional Talent Acquisition Specialist
Employment Type: Contract (Full-Time)
Reports To: Talent Acquisition Manager – Charleston, South Carolina, USA


Position Overview

Water Mission is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Regional Talent Acquisition Specialist to lead and support recruitment activities across its country programs in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Malawi. This role is central to building strong teams that further our mission to end the global water crisis. The Specialist will work closely with HR teams in each country, ensuring an efficient, values-aligned hiring process for both national and regional positions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for regionally based and national roles: from job posting to candidate onboarding.

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies that align with each country program’s needs and hiring trends.

  • Collaborate with HR managers and hiring managers to define recruitment plans, timelines, and expectations.

  • Ensure a streamlined and professional candidate experience through proactive communication and process transparency.

  • Utilize applicant tracking systems (ATS) and sourcing tools to build and manage talent pipelines.

  • Source candidates through diverse channels: online platforms, social media, partnerships, and networks.

  • Provide training and technical support to local HR and hiring teams on recruitment best practices.

  • Travel to country offices up to 4 times annually to support recruitment and training initiatives.

  • Track and report on recruitment metrics such as time to fill, source effectiveness, and candidate experience.

  • Maintain alignment with Water Mission’s mission, values, and Statement of Faith.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Personal and growing Christian faith; alignment with Water Mission’s Statement of Faith and core values: Love, Excellence, Integrity.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field — or equivalent experience (5+ years in HR).

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in recruitment or talent acquisition, preferably within East Africa.

  • Familiarity with local labor laws and hiring practices across East Africa (experience with Latin America a plus).

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple recruitment projects across different locations.

  • Strong sourcing capabilities using social media, digital platforms, and professional networks.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and project management skills.

  • Fluent in English; Swahili proficiency is a plus.

  • Strong home internet connection for remote work and virtual collaboration.

  • Willingness and ability to travel regionally (up to 4 times/year, 5–10 days per trip), including over rough terrain.
