Role Overview
The Quality Assurance Assistant will support the effective implementation of UVRI’s Quality Management System by ensuring compliance with internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), regulatory requirements, and international quality guidelines such as GCP, GLP, and ISO standards.
The role involves close collaboration with both local and global project teams to promote a strong culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across all project functions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Management System Support
- Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of Quality Management System documentation.
- Support quality control activities to ensure consistency and compliance across project operations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the QMS.
Audits, Compliance, and Risk Management
- Support the preparation and coordination of internal audits and inspections in line with the annual audit schedule.
- Monitor, track, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
- Support the implementation of risk management practices across project functions.
- Stay up to date with quality, regulatory, and research ethics legislation and compliance requirements.
Training and Collaboration
- Assist in coordinating quality-related training sessions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records for staff.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams at both local and global levels to promote quality standards.
Additional Responsibilities
- Carry out any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post as assigned by the Project Principal Investigator or Manager.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Public Health, Quality Management, or a related field.
Experience
- Previous experience in quality assurance or quality management is desirable.
- Experience in a research, clinical, or laboratory setting is an added advantage.
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with GCP, GLP, ISO 9001, and other relevant quality standards.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Willingness to learn and use Quality Management System tools.
