Job Title: Project Officer (2)
Location: Kampala, Uganda

Job Summary

Raising The Village (RTV) is hiring two (2) Project Officers to support project implementation, monitoring, and reporting. The Project Officers will work directly with partner villages to facilitate community-based development initiatives aimed at reducing extreme poverty, increasing household incomes, and improving livelihoods. This role involves frequent fieldwork, community training, and coordination with program staff to ensure effective delivery of RTV’s methodologies.


Key Responsibilities

1. Project Implementation

  • Conduct project design review meetings with partner villages and update project plans and budgets.

  • Co-facilitate training sessions on financial literacy, mindset change, agriculture, livestock care, health, water and sanitation, and village savings and loans associations (VSLAs).

  • Implement RTV’s poverty reduction methodologies in line with program goals.

  • Prepare and submit procurement requests for project goods and services.

  • Verify distribution of inputs and provide follow-up support to ensure compliance and sustainability.

  • Identify risks and challenges, recommending practical solutions for improvement.

  • Hold regular community meetings with leaders and beneficiaries to review project performance.

2. Reporting and Administration

  • Develop and manage detailed work plans for assigned projects.

  • Submit weekly field reports and contribute to donor reports and proposal writing.

  • Participate actively in weekly staff and cluster team meetings.

  • Prepare and submit financial requests and accountabilities to the Senior Project Officer.

  • Document project progress through photography for RTV’s data repository.

3. Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Provide recommendations to improve RTV’s project design and delivery.

  • Suggest adjustments or additional activities to enhance project sustainability.

  • Work closely with the M&E team to ensure project impact is tracked and reported.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Humanities, Community Development, or a related field.

  • Experience: At least 2 years of relevant field experience working with last-mile or rural communities.

Technical and Administrative Skills:

  • Strong facilitation and community training skills.

  • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal).

  • Fluency in relevant local languages is required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

  • Good understanding of community-based development principles.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Problem-solving skills with a creative and proactive approach.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with community members.

  • Positive attitude and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

  • Physically fit and willing to hike rugged terrain and travel up to 90% of the time.

  • Ability to ride a motorbike is a strong advantage.
