Job Type: Full-time
Category: NGO / Healthcare / Project Management
Organization: Uganda Youth Development Link (UYDEL)
Job Summary
Uganda Youth Development Link (UYDEL) is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and experienced Project Health Service Coordinator to join our team in Kampala. This exciting opportunity is part of a groundbreaking initiative that addresses the intersection of adolescent reproductive health, mental health, maternal care, and climate resilience in Uganda’s urban slums.
The position focuses on supporting adolescent girls and young women (ages 15–24) in vulnerable communities by integrating sexual and reproductive health (SRHR) services, mental health support, and maternal care into climate adaptation strategies. The successful candidate will provide leadership, coordination, and technical expertise to ensure that health services are not only youth-friendly but also climate-responsive.
This is more than just a healthcare role—it is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on young lives while advancing climate justice and gender equality in Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
As the Project Health Service Coordinator, you will take on a leadership role in guiding project implementation and ensuring that health interventions are effective, inclusive, and sustainable. Your responsibilities will include:
-
Leading the planning, coordination, and implementation of health-related project activities in alignment with overall project objectives.
-
Strengthening collaboration with district health offices, community health workers, health facilities, local leaders, and civil society organizations to improve referral systems and enhance service delivery.
-
Supervising and supporting a multidisciplinary team of health staff, including mental health professionals, nurses, midwives, and peer educators.
-
Integrating adolescent SRHR, maternal health, and climate resilience strategies into community health services to address both immediate health needs and long-term climate challenges.
-
Organizing and delivering capacity-building trainings for healthcare providers, peer educators, and community stakeholders on adolescent-friendly and climate-responsive approaches to healthcare.
-
Overseeing data collection, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting to document project outcomes, best practices, and lessons learned.
-
Representing UYDEL at coordination meetings, stakeholder forums, and advocacy platforms, ensuring visibility and contribution to national dialogues on adolescent health and climate adaptation.
-
Ensuring that all project interventions adhere to ethical standards, gender-sensitive approaches, and the principles of youth empowerment.
