Description
Pebuu is hiring a Professional Driver with defensive driving skills and experience, preferably someone who resides in or around Namugongo, Kira, Naalya, Bukerere, or nearby areas. The candidate should have extensive knowledge of and experience with nationwide coverage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport employees, clients, and goods to designated locations across the country.
  • Plan and follow efficient routes to ensure timely arrival.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and conduct regular vehicle inspections
  • Adhere to traffic laws and company safety policies
  • Report any vehicle issues or accidents promptly
  • Assist with loading and unloading goods when necessary.
  • Keep abreast of road traffic conditions, Safety and Security broadcasts, event schedules, weather and other relevant.

Requirements:

    1. Maintain a valid driver’s license with the required classes and strictly adhere to all driving rules and regulations.
    2. Operating the Company Vehicle safely and in full compliance with traffic laws and regulations.
    3. Occasionally check passengers and luggage to verify complete ticketing, coordinating with the conductor.
    4. Must be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
    5. Ensure cleanliness, safety, and secure custody of the VEHICLE after completing work.
    6. Observe and adhere to the safety precautions before and during driving considering prevailing weather and driving conditions to avoid accidents
    7. Drive vehicles carefully and safely in accordance with the traffic laws and regulations of Uganda, and with Pebuu policies and procedures including the fleet management manual
    8. Give attention to the physical wellbeing of passengers, providing comfort breaks and other assistance as required; at all times treating passengers with courtesy and friendliness.
    9. Deliver and collect items and documents to and from various offices, post office regularly and ensure its safety as and when requested.
    10. Carry out daily inspection checks to ensure that the vehicle is in good running order with valid insurance policies; record any cases requiring future action.
    11. Make motor vehicle monthly fuel reconciliations, reports and fleet compliance reports.
    12. Identify and report all mechanical faults and any accidents immediately to the supervisor so that appropriate action is taken.
    13. Work with other staff to promote team work and good working environment within the work place and organization.
    14. To be ready to travel to any location within Pebuu program area of operation.
    15. Working outside normal working hours.
    16. Additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. “A” level certificate.
  2. Valid driving permit with classes B, B, C & D1, with no penalties
  3. Defensive Driving certificate obtained from a registered defensive driving training institute
  4. Clean Driving Record/s.
  5. Certificate in First Aid is added advantage.
  Competencies Technical Competencies
  • Basic vehicle maintenance skills.
  • Good driving skills, including defensive driving skills.
  • Knowledge of road safety and traffic regulations.

Working Experience:

Minimum of six (6) years of experience as a passenger driver, including at least three (3) years of nationwide driving experience.
