Job Summary
As the Planning Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting the execution of major oil and gas projects. You will be responsible for developing, updating, and monitoring project schedules, ensuring effective coordination between engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
Using tools like Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and SAP, you will help manage timelines, resources, budgets, and deliverables. You will also identify project risks, track performance indicators, and prepare detailed progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Project Scheduling: Create and maintain detailed project schedules covering all phases from engineering to commissioning and start-up.

Coordination: Work closely with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and site supervisors to align schedules and ensure work progress is synchronized.

Progress Monitoring: Track project milestones, deliverables, and deadlines. Use scheduling tools to flag potential delays and develop mitigation plans.

Resource Management: Identify resource requirements and coordinate workforce and equipment allocations to meet project needs efficiently.

Risk Management: Analyze scheduling risks and provide recommendations to avoid potential bottlenecks, overruns, and other challenges.

Reporting: Prepare weekly and monthly project status reports, including Gantt charts, critical path updates, cost forecasts, and performance metrics.

Compliance: Ensure that all planning and scheduling practices comply with project specifications, contract requirements, and safety regulations.

Tool Proficiency: Use Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and SAP effectively to perform all planning, scheduling, and cost control activities.

Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure timely delivery and execution of project phases.

Support Audits and Reviews: Participate in project reviews, audits, and planning meetings to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Certifications:
-
Must possess valid academic and professional certificates.

Training in Primavera P6, Project Management, or PMP certification is an added advantage.
Experience:
-
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.

Proven track record in planning engineering, project scheduling, or project control, especially within the oil and gas sector.

Hands-on experience with EPC processes, engineering workflows, and construction project life cycles.
Desired Skills and Competencies

In-depth knowledge of Primavera P6, MS Project, and SAP project modules.

Strong understanding of project management principles and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and project plans.
