About Cerba Lancet Uganda

Cerba Lancet Uganda Limited is the leading provider of private diagnostic pathology services in Uganda. Registered since April 2009, we are part of the Cerba Lancet Group of Laboratories in East Africa under Cerba Lancet Kenya, and a member of the Cerba Lancet Africa network headquartered in South Africa.

We are currently looking for two (2) qualified Phlebotomists to join our team and support both onsite and offsite sample collection services.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

Phlebotomy & Sample Collection

  • Draw blood and collect non-blood specimens from patients at various locations using sterile techniques to ensure accurate test results.

  • Assist pathologists in special procedures such as bone marrow collection, fine needle aspiration, sweat tests, and Pap smears, adhering to SOPs and safety protocols.

  • Maintain accurate records of specimens collected, ensuring complete patient and clinical data is captured.

Stock & Equipment Management

  • Monitor and manage inventory levels for collection materials (e.g., venesection bleeding bags), and ensure timely stock replenishment.

  • Regularly check and maintain phlebotomy equipment, ensuring proper sterilisation and adherence to health and safety standards.

Quality Assurance & Documentation

  • Participate in internal audits and promptly address any identified issues.

  • Collaborate with laboratory quality officers to ensure that all operational documents are current and compliant with regulations.

  • Report incidents and customer complaints via the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) in line with company policy.

  • Perform and report trend analyses on audit findings to identify areas of improvement for management review.

Customer Service & Communication

  • Build rapport with patients, clearly explaining procedures and addressing concerns to ensure a comfortable experience during sample collection.

  • Maintain professionalism and compassion in patient interactions at all times.

Other Duties

  • Undertake any other duties assigned by the manager relevant to the role.


Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (or a related field).

  • Mandatory: Valid Class A Driving Permit (Motorcycle).

  • Experience: 1–2 years of relevant work experience, especially with corporate clients, is an added advantage.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and adherence to protocols.

  • Ability to work independently and manage field assignments.
