Job Summary

We are hiring a Packaging Team Leader to manage and oversee packaging operations at our facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of packaging operators, maintaining high safety and hygiene standards, ensuring productivity, and upholding product quality. This role is ideal for individuals looking for packaging jobs in Uganda in a fast-paced food production environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and motivate a team of packaging operators to meet daily production goals.
  • Monitor product packaging for accuracy, quantity, and quality in line with company standards.
  • Assist the Food Controller with administrative tasks such as scheduling and reporting.
  • Plan and prioritize daily packaging activities, workflow, and shift schedules.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on packaging equipment.
  • Identify operational or mechanical issues and coordinate timely resolutions.
  • Oversee packaging safety, sanitation, and hygiene to maintain compliance.
  • Ensure packaging is completed efficiently and on time to meet customer demands.
  • Update supervisors on packaging status, machine performance, and team productivity.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth production processes.
  • Complete all process documentation accurately, including material usage records.
  • Support conflict resolution and labor management within the packaging team.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • A diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar packaging supervisory role, preferably in food production.
  • Proven leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with biscuit or snack packaging equipment is an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control procedures and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Availability to work flexible hours or extended shifts when needed.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and learning.
