Packaging Artisan – Full-Time

Nile Breweries is seeking a skilled Packaging Artisan to support the optimisation, installation, calibration, and maintenance of process control systems and electrical equipment to enhance plant availability, efficiency, and product quality.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

1. Maintain a Safe and Healthy Working Environment

• Comply with safety, health, and environmental procedures and regulations.
• Maintain safety and housekeeping standards.
• Report unsafe conditions or behaviors.
• Properly handle and dispose of hazardous chemicals.

2. Maintain, Calibrate, Repair and Optimize Plant Equipment

• Locate equipment, spares, and documentation for maintenance tasks.
• Plan and prepare maintenance jobs efficiently.
• Perform repairs, calibrations, and routine maintenance.
• Continuously improve equipment and system performance.
• Operate process equipment safely and efficiently.
• Optimize spare parts usage and support overhaul activities.
• Provide technical support and improve machine/system capabilities.

3. Monitor and Enhance Machine Performance

• Analyze and resolve equipment issues promptly.
• Assist in breakdown maintenance and urgent interventions.
• Support hygiene and quality enhancement initiatives.
• Conduct machine audits and provide feedback to the team.

4. Manage Inventory

• Optimize usage of spares and consumables through ABC analysis.
• Ensure availability and proper usage of satellite and rotable spares.

5. Teamwork and Communication

• Communicate effectively within teams and across departments.
• Contribute to personal and team development goals.

6. Apply VPO Principles and Practices

• Implement 5S and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Support problem solving: QFR, 5Why, escalation, ABR, PIPs.
• Participate in condition-based and quality-based maintenance.
• Improve skills flexibility and support setup time reduction initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

• Trade Tested Millwright or Electromechanical Artisan.
• 3–6 months of on-the-job training or vendor maintenance experience.
• Experience with routine electrical and instrumentation maintenance.
• Knowledge of Packaging, Brewing, and Utilities plant systems and processes.
