Job Summary

Ranchers Finest (U) Ltd, a reputable company in Uganda’s agribusiness sector, is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced Accountant to join its finance department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial policies, and supporting timely tax and statutory filings. The role also involves active engagement in budgeting, financial reporting, and internal audits.

Key Responsibilities

Income Accounting & Reconciliations

• Scrutinize and verify all income accounting entries and receivables.
• Generate and post accurate revenue entries into the ERP accounting system.
• Ensure timely reconciliation of bank accounts with ERP records (daily, weekly, monthly).

Payables and Payroll Management

• Implement and maintain a robust payments tracking system.
• Approve and monitor payments to ensure timely processing.
• Reconcile all accounts payable monthly.
• Process payroll accurately and submit for approval on time.
• File monthly PAYE returns and VAT filings in compliance with URA deadlines.

Cash and Bank Management

• Oversee preparation and verification of bank reconciliations.
• Maintain strong controls over petty cash usage and reconcile periodically.

Fixed Assets Management

• Update and maintain the fixed assets register and related depreciation schedules.
• Ensure proper tagging and insurance of company assets across all units.

Budgeting and Financial Reporting

• Support the budget preparation process by collecting data and updating templates.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Prepare schedules and documentation required for internal and external audits.
• Ensure timely filing of company and income tax returns as per statutory requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional certification: CPA(U) and/or ACCA is mandatory.
• At least 3 years of continuous experience in an accounting or finance management role.
• Demonstrated experience managing an accounts team of 2–5 staff.
• Proven experience preparing financial statements, managing audits, and reconciliations.
