About the MTN Manager – MoMo Pay Formal

MTN Uganda is seeking a strategic and results-oriented professional to lead the MoMo Pay Formal segment. This role is responsible for managing formal merchant acquisition and retention initiatives aligned with MTN Uganda’s overall commercial strategy. Core Purpose of MTN Manager – MoMo Pay Formal

To drive the growth and sustainability of the formal merchant segment by leading the design, acquisition, and retention strategies within the MoMo Pay platform, ensuring alignment with MTN Uganda’s broader commercial goals.


Key Responsibilities of  MTN Manager – MoMo Pay Formal

  • Manage the MoMo Pay roadmap for the formal segment, both locally and across the Group (FINCO).

  • Lead acquisition and retention strategies to increase Monthly Active Users (MAU30) and reduce churn.

  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with internal teams and third-party vendors to drive formal merchant growth.

  • Design compelling value propositions for formal merchants that meet evolving customer expectations.

  • Coordinate marketing campaigns and promotions to support business growth.

  • Oversee key merchant processes (e.g., onboarding, liquidation) in alignment with targets and service-level agreements.

  • Collaborate with customer service teams to address and resolve merchant complaints, implementing continuous improvement frameworks.

  • Monitor product performance and pricing strategies to ensure cost-effectiveness, profitability, and product uptake.

  • Use data-driven insights to inform product development, strategic planning, and sector-specific initiatives.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Commerce, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Advanced Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Certification in Digital Finance or related areas is a strong advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Customer Experience, or the FinTech industry.

  • Prior experience in a payment systems organization is a plus.

  • Proven track record in execution, supervision, and translating strategy into actionable plans.

Training

  • Digital Money or Digital Finance Certification

  • Project Management

  • Advanced Excel and Analytical Skills
