About the Financial Intelligence Authority (FIA)

Job Summary

The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will work under the supervision of the Planning Unit and will be responsible for developing and implementing effective M&E systems. The goal is to track the progress, results, and overall impact of the Authority's initiatives, ensure alignment with national statistical frameworks, and facilitate learning through evidence-based reporting.

This role is ideal for entry-level professionals with strong academic training in statistics, economics, or development studies looking for government M&E jobs in Kampala.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

As a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at FIA, you will:

  • Develop, implement, and regularly review the FIA Statistics Strategic Plan as part of the broader National Statistical Development Plan.

  • Prepare periodic M&E reports, including quarterly and annual performance reports.

  • Provide cross-functional support to departments in the development and execution of monitoring frameworks with SMART indicators.

  • Coordinate the evaluation of FIA programs, interventions, and strategic initiatives.

  • Implement effective M&E systems and maintain a real-time database of key economic, institutional, and anti-money laundering indicators.

  • Ensure implementation of M&E guidelines and adherence to national and international reporting standards.

  • Identify recurring challenges and lessons learned from monitoring reports and support continuous programmatic improvement.

  • Provide technical support to the Planning & Budgeting and Research & Policy teams in all matters relating to monitoring and evaluation.


Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

Education:

  • An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Economics, Development Economics, Quantitative Economics, or Monitoring and Evaluation from a recognized university.

Experience:

  • No prior experience required, making this a great opportunity for fresh graduates and early-career professionals looking for entry-level M&E jobs in Uganda.


Key Competencies and Skills

  • Knowledge of the FIA’s mission, values, and strategic objectives.

    • Stata

    • SPSS

  • Highly organized with strong planning and time management skills.

  • Proficiency in Monitoring, Evaluation, Assessment, and Learning (MEAL) frameworks.
