Job Summary

The Manager Performance & Talent Management is responsible for managing the implementation of performance and talent management processes across MTN Uganda. The role ensures strategic alignment between employee performance, recruitment, succession planning, and business objectives while maintaining compliance with MTN Group standards.

Main Responsibilities

Performance Management

  • Execute the end-to-end performance management process including goal setting, KPI and KRA cascade.
  • Ensure compliance with the Performance Management Framework and MTN Group HR policies.
  • Maintain performance data within the HRIS system.
  • Produce scheduled and ad-hoc performance reports.
  • Support audit and statutory compliance activities.
  • Train line managers on conducting effective performance evaluations.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for performance-related matters.

Talent Sourcing

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment and onboarding processes.
  • Ensure compliance with recruitment policies and Diversity & Inclusion requirements.
  • Coordinate job advertising, shortlisting, and interview scheduling.
  • Oversee background verification and onboarding prerequisites.
  • Manage induction and probation processes.
  • Maintain updated employee recruitment databases and reporting.

Talent Management

  • Develop and implement Talent Management strategies aligned to business goals.
  • Manage succession planning frameworks.
  • Oversee talent development models and leadership development initiatives.
  • Maintain talent databases and reporting systems.
  • Assess future-fit competencies and recommend proactive talent strategies.
  • Benchmark leadership and development programs against best practices.

Reporting and Budget Support

  • Report to the CHRO on progress and performance metrics.
  • Provide ad-hoc project reporting as required.
  • Assist in managing departmental and project budgets.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education

  • Degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology, or related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification in a related field is an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 4–6 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • At least 2 years in a managerial position.
  • Experience in fintech, banking, or financial services preferred.
  • Experience in multinational or global enterprise environments is an advantage.

Functional Knowledge

  • Performance Management strategies.
  • Talent sourcing trends and strategy.
  • Employee engagement and culture development.
  • Labour laws and HR compliance.
  • Change management and employee communication.
  • HR operations and service delivery frameworks.
