Makerere University, one of Africa’s most prestigious academic institutions, is seeking to recruit a qualified individual for the position of Lecturer in the Department of Geomatics and Land Management. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to teaching, research, mentorship, and community engagement in a growing and dynamic academic field that supports Uganda’s development goals.Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in geomatics, land management, geospatial science, and related areas.
- Examine and grade students in accordance with university assessment policies.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research projects.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to departmental academic growth and staff development.
- Conduct applied and theoretical research aligned with departmental focus areas.
- Participate in community outreach programs and knowledge transfer initiatives.
- Write research proposals and secure funding to support departmental research and innovation.
- Carry out any other official duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
Required Qualifications
- A PhD in any of the following areas: Surveying, Geodesy, Land Management, GIS, Geospatial Engineering, or Remote Sensing.
- A Master of Science in a related field such as Surveying, Geodesy, GIS, Geospatial Engineering, Remote Sensing, or Land Management.
- An Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Science in Surveying, Geomatics, or Geodesy from a recognized institution.
