About LIDIT

Light for Disability Transformation (LIDIT) is a community-based organization committed to promoting inclusive development by empowering deaf persons and persons with disabilities (PWDs). Through holistic, family-centered approaches, LIDIT addresses stigma, fosters integration, and builds inclusive systems where PWDs contribute to development. Our programs focus on inclusive education, economic empowerment, advocacy, and capacity building under the flagship program SIGNO.

About the HEARD Project

The HEARD Project (Home-based Empowerment and Advocacy for Guardians of Deaf Children in Koboko) is a 10-month initiative supported by the Haella Stichting Foundation. It aims to empower families—especially parents and guardians of deaf children—to provide inclusive care, psychosocial support, and empowerment. The project utilizes the LIDIT Household Inclusion Framework (LHIF) to assess and transform selected households.

Position Summary: Data Collectors (4)

LIDIT is hiring four (4) sign language-literate individuals for household surveys and beneficiary identification in Koboko Municipality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer the LHIF tool to 50 selected households.
  • Collect respectful, confidential data on disability inclusion.
  • Identify 30 eligible households for further participation.
  • Report daily updates to the project team.
  • Engage ethically and inclusively throughout the assignment.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Proficiency in Uganda Sign Language (USL)mandatory.
  • Certificate or Diploma in Social Sciences, Community Development, Special Needs Education, Public Health, or related field.
  • Experience in data collection, field research, or surveys (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of local languages in Koboko Municipality (an added advantage).
  • Understanding of disability rights and inclusive development principles.

Assignment Details

  • Fieldwork Dates: 15th – 18th July 2025
  • Location: Koboko Municipality (household visits)
  • Working Hours: Flexible, based on household availability
  • Compensation: Modest facilitation package covering transport, meals, and communication
