Job Opportunity: Human Resource Assistant
Type: Contract (6 months)

Position Summary
DRC Uganda is looking for a qualified and motivated Human Resource Assistant to support HR operations in our Uganda Country Office. This role plays a vital part in maintaining employee records, supporting recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, and managing benefits administration. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with DRC’s HR policies and Uganda’s labor laws while fostering a smooth and professional HR environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities

Organize job interviews, including scheduling written/oral tests, setting up venues, and preparing computers.
-
Schedule HR events, interviews, and meetings.
-
Maintain personnel files and employee records on SharePoint.
-
Prepare payroll data for casual workers and generate payslips.
-
Manage staff exit processes, including issuing certificates of service and necessary documentation.
-
Support onboarding by sending new hire packets, preparing orientation schedules, and coordinating documentation.
-
Assist with recruitment processes for interns, assistants, and casual workers.
-
Draft staff contracts and handle reference checks for new hires.
-
Update HR trackers, including staff lists, joiners and leavers, and recruitment progress.

Perform any other duties assigned related to HR and administration.
Requirements & Qualifications
Required:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
-
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
-
Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
-
Understanding of Ugandan labor laws and HR best practices.
Preferred:
-
Previous experience working in NGO HR departments is an added advantage.
