Description

Yako Bank Uganda Limited is hiring an Human Resource & Administration Manager to oversee the development and implementation of Yako Bank Uganda Ltd’s Human Resource strategic plan, driving the people agenda, including benefits programs, employee relations, compensation structures, HR compliance, reporting functions, organizational structure and development, performance management, culture building, employee recruitment and retention, staffing, health and safety reviews in alignment with labor laws, and supporting day-to-day office administration.

Key Result Areas:
  1. Define goals and objectives for the acquisition, retention, and development of human capital and talent.
  2. Foster a workplace environment consistent with Yako Bank’s Vision, Mission, and values.
  3. Serve as an internal consultant to the Senior Leadership team, supervisors, and employees on personnel issues affecting performance and business relationships.
  4. Develop and recommend the operating budget for the Human Resources function and ensure the department operates within budget allocations.
  5. Make expenditure adjustments during the budget cycle to ensure efficient funds management.
  6. Recruit, direct, motivate, and evaluate Human Resources for Yako Bank.
  7. Consult with legal counsel as needed and advise executive leadership on legal issues.
  8. Direct and coordinate the development of policies and procedures for effective HR management.
  9. Ensure compliance with rules for employee records, benefits files, and corporate documents, keeping them up to date.
  10. Conduct regular HR audits and risk assessments, engaging stakeholders to address identified risks promptly.
  11. Ensure all employee information is current in the HRIS system and HR staff operate within legislated guidelines.
  12. Implement and maintain audit standards, ensuring HR operations comply with regulatory and industry standards.
  13. Oversee training, development, and knowledge management of employees.
  14. Support and implement organizational change initiatives and new Performance Management System (PMS) rollout.
  15. Keep the organization informed of industry trends and innovations.
  16. Seek continuous renewal and innovation in service delivery and operating systems.
  17. Promote employee engagement through cultural change and staff motivation schemes.
Minimum Educational and Technical Competence Requirements:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Humanities (e.g., Human Resource, Social Science, Organizational Psychology, or related field).
  2. Postgraduate qualification in a Human Resource-related field.
  3. Membership in the Human Resource Association of Uganda is an added advantage.
  4. At least 10 years of HR practice in a financial institution, with 5 years in a supervisory role.
  5. Experience in championing culture transformation is desirable.
  6. Good understanding of labor laws.
  7. Good understanding of banking policies and procedures.
  8. Sound knowledge of people management principles and procedures.
