Description
- Define goals and objectives for the acquisition, retention, and development of human capital and talent.
- Foster a workplace environment consistent with Yako Bank’s Vision, Mission, and values.
- Serve as an internal consultant to the Senior Leadership team, supervisors, and employees on personnel issues affecting performance and business relationships.
- Develop and recommend the operating budget for the Human Resources function and ensure the department operates within budget allocations.
- Make expenditure adjustments during the budget cycle to ensure efficient funds management.
- Recruit, direct, motivate, and evaluate Human Resources for Yako Bank.
- Consult with legal counsel as needed and advise executive leadership on legal issues.
- Direct and coordinate the development of policies and procedures for effective HR management.
- Ensure compliance with rules for employee records, benefits files, and corporate documents, keeping them up to date.
- Conduct regular HR audits and risk assessments, engaging stakeholders to address identified risks promptly.
- Ensure all employee information is current in the HRIS system and HR staff operate within legislated guidelines.
- Implement and maintain audit standards, ensuring HR operations comply with regulatory and industry standards.
- Oversee training, development, and knowledge management of employees.
- Support and implement organizational change initiatives and new Performance Management System (PMS) rollout.
- Keep the organization informed of industry trends and innovations.
- Seek continuous renewal and innovation in service delivery and operating systems.
- Promote employee engagement through cultural change and staff motivation schemes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Humanities (e.g., Human Resource, Social Science, Organizational Psychology, or related field).
- Postgraduate qualification in a Human Resource-related field.
- Membership in the Human Resource Association of Uganda is an added advantage.
- At least 10 years of HR practice in a financial institution, with 5 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience in championing culture transformation is desirable.
- Good understanding of labor laws.
- Good understanding of banking policies and procedures.
- Sound knowledge of people management principles and procedures.
