Graduate Trainee – Procurement and Disposal

Department: Supply Chain
Reports to: Procurement and Disposal Officer

UEDCL is offering a dynamic opportunity for a recent graduate to join its Supply Chain Department as a Graduate Trainee – Procurement and Disposal. The successful candidate will gain practical experience in public procurement processes, asset disposal procedures, contract administration, and regulatory compliance—all within a structured learning environment designed to build a solid foundation for a career in procurement or supply chain management.


Role Impact

This role directly supports the efficiency, accountability, and compliance of UEDCL’s procurement operations. By participating in real-time procurement and disposal activities, the trainee contributes to delivering value-for-money services and maintaining transparency and proper recordkeeping across the supply chain.


Key Responsibilities (Key Result Areas)

  • Assist in preparing and issuing Requests for Quotations (RFQs), proposals, and tender documents.

  • Support the team in bid opening and evaluation processes while ensuring procedural compliance.

  • Track supplier performance, delivery timelines, and maintain accurate records.

  • Maintain and update the supplier database, and assist with communications and follow-ups.

  • Prepare procurement documentation such as Local Purchase Orders (LPOs), contracts, and approval memos.

  • Monitor contract implementation timelines and alert supervisors to upcoming deliverables.

  • Assist in identifying, documenting, and processing obsolete or unserviceable items.

  • Support the coordination and documentation of approved disposal processes.

  • File, scan, and archive procurement and disposal documents in compliance with audit standards.

  • Track adherence to procurement plans and schedules.

  • Assist in generating procurement progress reports and summaries.

  • Liaise with internal departments to support procurement needs and provide administrative assistance.

  • Properly drafted procurement and solicitation documents.

  • Well-organized and compliant procurement and disposal records.

  • Timely assistance in supplier engagements, follow-ups, and evaluations.

  • Updated supplier and asset registers.

  • Regular and accurate procurement status updates.

  • Positive feedback from supervisors and supported departments.


Person Specifications

Academic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Must have graduated within the last three (3) years from a recognized institution.

Experience:

  • No formal work experience required.

Core Competencies:

  • Basic understanding of public procurement principles, lifecycle, and best practices.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with procurement systems is an advantage.

  • Good organizational and communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, integrity, and commitment to transparency.

  • Willingness to learn new regulatory frameworks and digital tools.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic team.
