Job Summary
Marriott International is seeking a General Cashier and Paymaster to join its Finance team in Kampala. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, handling company cash transactions, maintaining proper documentation, and supporting compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
The General Cashier and Paymaster will manage daily cash operations, assist with payroll functions, safeguard company assets, and ensure adherence to financial policies. The role requires high attention to detail, confidentiality, and strong organizational skills to support the smooth financial operations of the hotel.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Financial Records and Accuracy

Review figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, accuracy, and coding.

Classify, code, and summarize financial data using journals, ledgers, and computerized systems.

Record, store, and analyze financial information for reporting and compliance.

Assist in completing period-end closing procedures and financial reports.
2. Cash Management and Security
-
Organize, secure, and maintain cash, cash equivalents, and financial files.

Maintain and distribute petty cash, cashier banks, and contracts in line with SOPs.

Audit cashier banks periodically according to company procedures.

Document and act upon cash variances in line with hotel policy.

Serve as liaison with the primary banking institution and armored car services.
3. Compliance and Audit Support

Support internal, external, and regulatory audit processes.

Ensure compliance with company SOPs and financial controls.

Protect company assets and confidential financial information.
4. Team Support and Professionalism
-
Maintain confidentiality of guest, coworker, and company information.
-
Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues and management.

Provide clear task instructions and support team efforts to achieve common goals.

Maintain professional personal appearance and adhere to company policies.
5. Additional Responsibilities

Prepare and review written financial documents accurately and completely.

Answer telephones with proper etiquette.

Assist coworkers and respond appropriately to their concerns.

Perform light physical duties such as lifting, carrying, or moving objects up to 10 lbs.

Handle other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

Work Experience: At least 1 year of relevant accounting or cashiering experience.

Supervisory Experience: Not required.

Licenses/Certifications: None required.
