Funded Traineeship for Young Graduates at the EU Delegation to Uganda
Are you a recent graduate passionate about international relations, development cooperation, and diplomatic work? Are you eager to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, multicultural environment? The Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Uganda is offering an exciting funded traineeship opportunity for highly motivated young professionals to be part of their Cooperation Section and Political, Press, and Information Section.
This traineeship offers a unique chance to contribute to the EU's diplomatic mission and learn how the EU promotes its values, partnerships, and policies in Uganda.
Traineeship Details

Duration: Up to 6 months

Stipend: A monthly grant will be provided to cover living expenses. (Note: travel, visa, accommodation, and insurance costs must be borne by the trainee.)
Key Responsibilities
During the traineeship, successful candidates will support various functions, including:

Research & Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on EU-Uganda cooperation initiatives and related topics.

Reporting & Briefing: Draft analytical reports and contribute to policy briefings on development and political issues.

Data Coordination: Gather and consolidate data inputs from EU Member States for internal coordination.

Event Planning & Support: Assist in preparing events—particularly around the 50th anniversary of EU-Uganda relations.

Meeting Participation: Attend internal and external meetings; prepare comprehensive reports and minutes.

Youth Engagement: Contribute to the Delegation’s work on youth-related initiatives and partnerships.

Communications Support: Assist in communication and visibility campaigns, especially those marking the EU-Uganda anniversary.

Archiving: Help maintain and organize historical records of EU-Uganda cooperation.
Candidate Profile
Eligibility Requirements
-
Must currently reside in Uganda due to health and security conditions.
-
Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following or related areas:

Political Science

Social Sciences
-
Economics
-
Communications
-
History
-
Development Studies
-

Strong command of spoken and written English.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Desired Skills and Qualities

Highly motivated with a strong willingness to learn.

Capable of working independently and within a multicultural team.
-
Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
-
Demonstrated interest in international relations, EU foreign policy, and development cooperation.

Familiarity with Uganda’s institutional framework is a strong advantage.

Experience with social media management and communication tools is an asset.

Strong organizational and archiving abilities.
