Job Overview

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) invites applications from suitably qualified Ugandan citizens to fill ten positions of Front Desk Officer (Receptionist) within the Judiciary. The Front Desk Officer serves as the first point of contact for clients visiting or communicating with the Judiciary. The role focuses on providing professional customer service, managing inquiries, handling correspondence, and supporting effective communication between the public and Judiciary officers. Successful candidates will contribute to efficient service delivery, transparency, and public confidence in the Judiciary.

This position requires individuals who demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced administrative environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients and visitors to the Judiciary and provide customer service in line with established service standards.
  • Receive, attend to, and manage client inquiries made in person or through telephone communication in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Direct clients to the appropriate offices or officers and provide accurate information where required.
  • Receive phone calls, take messages accurately, and communicate them promptly to the relevant officers.
  • Receive official correspondence and ensure timely dispatch to the appropriate offices or departments.
  • Maintain records of incoming inquiries, complaints, and correspondence received at the front desk.
  • Track complaints or inquiries submitted to the Judiciary and support follow-up in line with established procedures.
  • Support orderly flow of clients and ensure compliance with front desk protocols.
  • Promote a positive image of the Judiciary through professional conduct and effective communication.
  • Perform any other administrative duties assigned by supervisors in support of front office operations.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • The applicant must be a Ugandan citizen.
  • Hold a Diploma in one of the following fields from a recognized university or awarding institution:
    • Mass Communication
    • Journalism
    • Public Administration
    • Law
    • Social Sciences
    • Development Studies
    • Social Work and Social Administration
  • Demonstrated customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle inquiries professionally and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a courteous approach to public service.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic administrative and record-keeping skills.

  • A recent passport-size photograph.

  • Copies of academic certificates and transcripts certified by the issuing institution.
  • Certified copies of Uganda Certificate of Education and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education results from Uganda National Examinations Board.
  • Names, contacts, and letters of recommendation from two professional referees and two character referees.
  • A certified copy of the latest and complete Declaration of Income, Assets, and Liabilities from the Inspectorate of Government, where applicable.
  • Copies of previous appointment, confirmation, and promotion letters, where applicable.
  • Any other relevant supporting documents.
