Graphic Systems (U) Ltd is a reputable organization known for delivering high-quality construction, engineering, and development solutions across Uganda. The company is currently seeking an experienced and proactive Foreman to lead and supervise three major construction/renovation projects in Kampala.Job Overview
We are looking for a highly organized and skilled professional to join our engineering team. The Foreman will oversee the renovation and development of three distinct projects. The ideal candidate should possess exceptional project management skills, deep knowledge of construction best practices, and the ability to effectively coordinate with contractors, consultants, and key stakeholders.Key Responsibilities
1. Project Oversight
- Warehouse Renovation: Manage repairs to floors, windows, electrical and lighting systems, toilet facilities, and interior/exterior painting to prepare the warehouse for leasing.
- Apartment Renovation: Oversee repainting, tile replacement, sanitary ware installation, and the conversion of selected bedrooms into kitchens.
- Warehouse-to-Apartment Conversion: Supervise the transformation of a two-story, 2,200 m² warehouse into 16–18 residential units, handling planning, design coordination, and execution.
2. Contractor & Stakeholder Coordination
- Compile, vet, and submit contractor bids for tender.
- Liaise with tradespeople (e.g., plumbing, electrical), architects, MEP engineers, and local authorities.
- Act as the primary link between site operations and senior management.
3. Project Management & Budget Control
- Supervise daily construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Monitor project costs and ensure all expenditures remain within approved budgets.
- Alert the Director of any cost overruns, scope changes, or timeline delays.
Qualifications and Skills
- Ugandan national or holder of a valid Certificate of Residence preferred.
- Diploma or Degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
- Proven track record in supervising both residential and commercial renovation projects.
- Thorough understanding of building systems, materials, and local construction regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and manage multi-disciplinary teams.
