Job Summary
We are seeking to hire two (2) Fleet Assistants who are honest, trustworthy, smart, and detail-oriented. The successful candidates will play a key role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and compliance of our delivery and transportation fleet, both within Kampala and upcountry operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Validate all fleet vehicles and oversee the delivery system’s compliance.
- Schedule and coordinate regular maintenance while keeping vehicles clean and operational at all times.
- Conduct risk assessments within the fleet department to improve safety and reduce downtime.
- Monitor and record daily mileage and fuel consumption for all company vehicles.
- Track the renewal status of critical documentation such as insurance, registration, and licenses.
- Adhere to and enforce safety and security protocols as per NP standards for transportation and tracking.
- Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cleaning and maintaining delivery and field-use vehicles.
- Perform periodic vehicle checks to identify and report maintenance issues promptly.
- Ensure timely action is taken in the event of vehicle accidents, following company procedures.
- Verify that all standard vehicle services are scheduled and completed without delay.
- Manage mechanical stock, track spare parts usage, and oversee repair needs and consumable inventory.
- Carry out daily and weekly vehicle inspections with detailed reporting.
- Verify that all drivers possess valid documentation necessary to operate company vehicles.
- Undertake any additional duties as assigned by the Fleet Supervisor or Management.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Procurement and Logistics Management, or a related field focused on fleet operations and maintenance.
- Minimum of two (2) years of proven experience in fleet management and logistics operations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Demonstrated commitment to vehicle safety, maintenance standards, and road safety laws.
- Strong knowledge of local parts suppliers and reputable vehicle service centers.
- Capable of working under pressure and prioritizing tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and teamwork abilities.
- Experience using vehicle tracking systems such as Winlon is required.
- Applicants must be aged 30 years or below at the time of application.
