Job Summary

Evidence Action is hiring a Financial Assistant to provide critical clerical support within the Finance Department. This temporary role (4 months) helps ensure smooth financial operations in Kampala while bridging a short-term staffing gap.

Associate, Accountant

Direct Reports:

None

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily clerical tasks: sorting, scanning, and filing financial documents
  • Assist with monthly financial returns for submission and audit readiness
  • Help retrieve vendor receipts and track missing documentation
  • Conduct occasional visits to local vendors to follow up on documentation
  • Organize, label, and archive financial documents appropriately
  • Provide finance support during Field Officer absences
  • General administrative support to the finance team
  • Any other finance-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Professional accounting qualifications (completed or in progress) are a plus

Experience and Skills

  • At least 1 year of accounting experience, preferably in a not-for-profit or NGO setting
  • High computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with computerized accounting systems
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • High integrity and commitment to fraud prevention
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cross-functional collaboration ability
  • Experience supporting finance functions in complex or multi-country contexts is an advantage
