We are currently recruiting a Financial and Tax Trainee to support our finance department in Kampala.

Job Summary

This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in the fields of finance and taxation. The selected candidate will assist with financial data entry, voucher organization, basic accounting tasks, and support the team in complying with Uganda’s tax requirements. The trainee will also be introduced to the financial software used within the organization, while gaining valuable insights into regulatory procedures and reporting practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Sort and verify financial vouchers and supporting documents.
• Enter transactional data into financial systems and Excel templates with accuracy.
• Assist with data collection, reconciliation, and basic statistical analysis as required by the finance team.
• Support the preparation of financial records for monthly tax declaration and statutory compliance.
• Learn and follow internal accounting and tax policies and procedures.
• Participate in internal audits and compliance reviews when required.
• Assist in filing and organizing accounting records in line with company document retention policies.
• Provide administrative and clerical support to the finance department as needed.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or any related field is required. Applicants must provide academic transcripts and a certified degree certificate.
• Computer Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, and Outlook. Knowledge of spreadsheet functions like formulas, lookups, and pivot tables is an added advantage.
• Software Skills: Willingness and ability to learn financial software tools quickly. Experience with accounting software is a bonus but not required.
• Work Attitude: Must demonstrate a proactive, responsible, and learning-oriented attitude.
• Experience: Prior internship or trainee experience of at least one month in a finance or accounting department is preferred.
• Tax Knowledge: Basic understanding of tax declaration processes in Uganda is an added advantage.
