The organization is recruiting five (5) Finance & Administration Assistants to support its finance and administrative operations at its Kampala office. This is a full-time position ideal for early-career finance professionals seeking practical experience in a reputable non-governmental organization. Job Summary

The Finance & Administration Assistant will support the Finance Department in day-to-day accounting, financial record-keeping, and administrative tasks. The role contributes to accurate financial reporting, effective resource management, and smooth administrative operations in line with Justice Centres Uganda policies and procedures. Working closely with finance and administrative teams, the successful candidates will assist in maintaining financial records, supporting budget monitoring, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and organizational standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Finance & Administration Assistants will support the organization through the following responsibilities:
  • Assist in maintaining accurate financial records and documentation in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Support data entry and updating of financial transactions using accounting software and spreadsheets.
  • Assist in processing payments, vouchers, and financial requests while ensuring proper authorization.
  • Support basic bookkeeping functions, including filing and organization of financial documents.
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and tracking of expenditures.
  • Support budget monitoring activities and preparation of basic financial reports.
  • Assist in maintaining petty cash records and ensuring proper accountability.
  • Provide administrative support to the finance and operations teams as required.
  • Support procurement documentation and basic inventory tracking.
  • Ensure confidentiality and integrity of financial and administrative information.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by the supervisor in line with organizational objectives.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance from a recognized institution.
  • At least one to two years of relevant work experience in a finance or accounting role.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial record management.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas and data organization.
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and well-organized financial records.

Professional Qualifications (Added Advantage)

  • Progress toward a professional accounting qualification such as CPA or ACCA.
  • Completion of at least Level 2 in CPA or ACCA will be an added advantage.
