Field Collection Officer Job – Mogo Uganda
Job Title: Field Collection Officer
Job Type: Full-time
Department: Customer Experience
Reporting to: Field Collections Supervisor
Location: Kampala, Uganda
Job Summary
Mogo Uganda, a leading provider of financial services, is hiring a Field Collection Officer to join its Customer Experience department. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring timely recovery of overdue payments through professional follow-ups, customer visits, and repossessions when necessary. This role requires a high level of integrity, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to build and maintain positive client relationships while upholding Mogo’s values and customer service standards.

Key Responsibilities
As a Field Collection Officer at Mogo Uganda, you will be responsible for:

Client Follow-ups: Conduct physical visits and phone calls to customers with overdue accounts while maintaining empathy, professionalism, and respect.

Repayment Assessments: Evaluate clients’ ability and willingness to repay loans and negotiate flexible repayment plans where applicable.

Target Achievement: Ensure daily and monthly collection targets are met and provide detailed daily collection reports to the supervisor.

Complaint Handling: Investigate and resolve customer concerns related to repayment, escalating complex issues to management.

System Updates: Accurately tag accounts in the system (e.g., promises to pay, unreachable, stolen cases, etc.).

Customer Tracing: Work with local leaders, guarantors, and authorities to locate clients who have defaulted or absconded.

Repossession Support: When necessary, participate in repossessions in line with company policies and legal requirements.

Compliance: Adhere to Mogo’s internal collection policies, regulatory frameworks, and ethical standards.

Customer Service: Handle queries and complaints courteously to ensure customer dignity is maintained even during collections.
Skills and Competencies
To succeed as a Field Collection Officer, you must possess:

Strong negotiation and persuasion skills to manage difficult conversations with clients.

Excellent investigative and problem-solving abilities.

Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.

High levels of honesty, accountability, and integrity.

The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Familiarity with local areas and terrain within Uganda.

Good organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.

Basic computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Office.

Willingness to work on weekends and public holidays when required.
Qualifications and Experience

A Diploma in any field (Business, Finance, or related discipline preferred).

At least 1–2 years of experience in credit collection, debt recovery, or related fieldwork.

Experience in microfinance, banking, or financial services is an added advantage.

A valid riding permit is highly preferred since fieldwork may involve motorcycle travel.
