We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrotechnician to join our growing team in Kampala. Job Summary
The Electrotechnician will be responsible for assembling, wiring, testing, and validating Zembo’s battery swap cabinets (PDU) and charging infrastructure. This role requires autonomy, precision, and adherence to safety standards to ensure that our charging systems meet the highest performance and reliability standards. The successful candidate will work closely with our engineering and quality control teams, playing a crucial role in the deployment of Zembo’s electric mobility network.
Key Responsibilities
Assembly & Maintenance

Independently assemble and wire battery swap cabinets, PDUs, and related charging equipment at Zembo HQ in Ntinda.

Interpret and follow wiring diagrams to ensure accurate component integration and reliable electrical connections.

Perform advanced troubleshooting and repairs in the technical workshop.

Conduct in-house functional tests of assembled systems prior to field deployment.

Strictly enforce safety protocols when handling high-voltage components and battery systems.
Quality Control

Carry out end-of-line validation checks on cabinets and electrical subsystems.

Identify and document wiring defects, technical anomalies, or quality issues.

Recommend improvements to assembly procedures based on feedback from lab and field performance.
Technical Monitoring & Documentation

Read and interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, and wiring layouts.

Maintain accurate technical documentation, including inspection reports, troubleshooting records, and wiring diagrams.

Travel Requirement: Up to 10% (field deployments and installations)

Availability: Must be willing to support evening and weekend work in case of technical emergencies

Required Qualifications & Skills
Education
-
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree (UBTEB / UNEB / Technical Institute) in Electrotechnics or Industrial Automation.
Experience
-
Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in electrical assembly, troubleshooting, and industrial automation.

Strong knowledge of electrical safety procedures, wiring standards, and diagnostic tools such as multimeters and continuity testers.

Proven ability to read, interpret, and apply electrical schematics, layouts, and system diagrams.

Experience in the e-mobility or solar energy sectors is a strong advantage.
Other Skills
-
Proficiency in technical English (reading and writing essential for manuals and safety documents).

Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
