The Driver – Logistics Handling Operations Worker will be responsible for safe transportation of passengers and cargo, maintaining vehicles in roadworthy condition, ensuring compliance with traffic laws and company safety standards, and supporting logistics operations as required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Transportation Duties

• Safely transport staff, clients, passengers, and cargo within Uganda and East Africa.
• Plan routes efficiently to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
• Ensure security of cargo and passengers during transit.
• Assist in loading and unloading cargo to prevent damage.

Vehicle Maintenance and Care

• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Check vehicle fluids, tire pressure, lights, and overall condition.
• Report mechanical issues promptly and coordinate repairs.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and professional appearance.
• Ensure adherence to servicing schedules.

Compliance and Safety

• Adhere strictly to traffic laws and regulations in Uganda and East Africa.
• Ensure all vehicle documentation is valid and up to date.
• Follow company safety protocols and enforce passenger compliance.
• Maintain accurate logbooks for trips, mileage, and fuel usage.

Customer Service

• Maintain professionalism and respectful conduct at all times.
• Assist passengers with luggage and related needs.
• Communicate courteously and represent CEVA Logistics positively.
• Adhere to the CEVA Code of Conduct.

Additional Duties

• Perform other driving-related tasks assigned by the Operations Supervisor.
• Assist with administrative tasks such as filing trip reports and fuel receipts.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

• Valid O-Level Certificate or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with appropriate commercial and passenger vehicle class.
• Minimum of five years’ experience as a professional driver, preferably in logistics or transportation.
• Certification in defensive driving or advanced driver training is desirable.
• Must pass background checks, driving assessment, literacy assessment, and medical fitness tests.
• Strong commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance with zero accident record.
• Knowledge of road networks in Uganda and East Africa.
• Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle issues.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
• High integrity, reliability, and professionalism.
• Physically fit for long-distance driving.
• Ability to handle unexpected situations such as breakdowns or route changes.
