Driver Jobs in Uganda – United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)
Uganda Jobs Network is pleased to share a verified employment opportunity with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). UNHCR is recruiting a Driver to be based in Yumbe District on a full-time basis. This role supports the safe and efficient transportation of staff, goods, and official documentation in line with UNHCR regulations and security standards. This position is suitable for experienced drivers seeking stable and reputable Jobs in Uganda, particularly within humanitarian and international organizations. If You Are Not Selected: How Your Driving Skills Can Become Self-Employment
Even if you apply for this UNHCR Driver position and are not selected, the skills required for this role can still open strong self-employment and income-generating opportunities in Uganda. Professional driving, vehicle care, and basic mechanical skills are consistently in demand across both urban and rural areas. With experience in safe driving, trip logging, fuel monitoring, and basic vehicle maintenance, you can work as a private hire driver, logistics support driver, or contract driver for NGOs, construction companies, schools, and health facilities. Many organizations require short-term or project-based drivers, especially in field locations similar to Yumbe. You can also start a small transport-related business offering services such as staff transportation, delivery of goods and documents, field logistics support, or vehicle caretaking services. Drivers with basic mechanical knowledge can earn additional income by offering vehicle inspection, minor repairs, and maintenance support to individual vehicle owners. Over time, disciplined drivers can grow into fleet supervisors, transport coordinators, or owners of small transport enterprises. At Uganda Jobs Network, we encourage job seekers to view every driving role as both employment and a foundation for long-term self-reliance.Driver Jobs in Uganda Summary
