Position: Deputy Branch Director
As the Deputy Branch Director, you will report directly to the Branch Director and be responsible for overseeing all operational, logistics, and commercial functions. You will also be instrumental in ensuring regulatory compliance, driving strategic sales performance, and maintaining optimal inventory management across the Uganda branch.
Key Responsibilities
1. Holistic Branch Management
-
Lead and monitor all branch functions including procurement, service delivery, logistics, risk management, and commercial operations.

Ensure coordination with all Laborex Uganda departments.

Maintain and strengthen relationships with suppliers, both local and international.
2. End-to-End Supply Chain & Logistics Oversight
-
Manage procurement, importation, customs clearance, and stock reception.
-
Work closely with clearing agents, track order statuses, and maintain internal controls.
-
Implement supplier performance dashboards for continuous monitoring.
3. Strategic Stock & Warehouse Management
-
Oversee inventory levels, expiry tracking, and outage prevention.
-
Supervise warehouse operations per Good Distribution Practices (GDP).
-
Lead inter-branch transfers, validate pricing, and optimize storage layout.
-
Maintain warehouse security and develop business continuity plans for supply chain operations.
4. Efficient Dispatch & Delivery Coordination
-
Organize dispatch and timely delivery of goods across Uganda.
-
Align activities with telesales, warehousing, and varying customer needs (urgent, bulk, regular).
-
Monitor and enhance service rates in collaboration with the commercial team.
5. Sales Leadership & Performance Management
-
Supervise the execution of sales strategies and margin optimization.

Monitor sales targets, reports, and pricing structures based on market trends and forex shifts.

Collaborate with the Branch Director and Chief Accountant to ensure profitability.
-
Enforce adherence to credit limits and Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) targets.
6. Quality Assurance & Good Distribution Practice (GDP)

Ensure GDP compliance across operations.

Audit suppliers, assess pharmaceutical risks, and implement SOPs.

Conduct staff training and corrective actions for quality gaps.
-
Develop validation plans to meet regulatory requirements.
7. Strategic Operational Development

Contribute to the overall pharmaceutical operations strategy for the Uganda branch.

Develop and evaluate KPIs, align processes with legal and environmental policies.

Promote continuous improvement through periodic reporting and policy revisions.
Candidate Profile: Qualifications & Skills
-
A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.

Minimum of 5–7 years of relevant experience, preferably in pharmaceutical distribution or healthcare supply chain management.

Strong leadership, planning, and execution abilities.
-
Excellent communication and coordination skills across multi-functional teams.
-
Strong knowledge of GDP compliance, inventory control, and commercial performance metrics.
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems; experience in pharmaceutical operations is highly advantageous.

Analytical mindset with problem-solving orientation and a passion for healthcare delivery.
