Kilimo Trust is a reputable regional organization promoting agricultural transformation across East Africa. With strong implementation in Uganda and Kenya, Kilimo Trust focuses on climate-smart agricultural initiatives that empower farmers and enhance sustainable farming practices. The trust is currently executing the Reduce-Reuse-Recycle-Rice-Initiative for Climate Smart Agriculture (R4iCSA II), funded by the IKEA Foundation.
This project covers districts in Eastern Uganda (Tororo, Butaleja, and Kween) and parts of Kenya (Kirinyaga and Kisumu). To enhance data accuracy and ensure successful project monitoring, Kilimo Trust seeks to hire a competent and detail-oriented Data Entrant on a two-month contract basis.
Job Summary
The Data Entrant will play a vital role in supporting Kilimo Trust's Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team in Uganda. The goal is to compile a comprehensive database of rice farmers trained on Sustainable Rice Production (SRP) practices and track technology adopters under the R4iCSA II project.

Key Responsibilities
- Accurate data entry of farmers trained under the SRP program.
- Capture data on farmers who have adopted Reduce-Reuse-Recycle (R-L-I) practices.
- Cross-check and verify data for accuracy and completeness.
- Work closely with field teams to resolve data inconsistencies.
- Protect sensitive farmer data with strict confidentiality measures.
- Update farmer profiles and maintain a clean, secure database.
- Report data breaches or security concerns to the supervisor immediately.
- Submit weekly and monthly data progress reports.
- Support the MEL team in database management and reporting activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of a Diploma in Agriculture, ICT, or related field.
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience in data management, agricultural surveys, or MEL systems.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interpret and explain technical information.
- Strong attention to detail and data entry accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or other data tools.
- Bachelor's degree is an added advantage.
- Experience working with NGOs or donor-funded projects is a plus.
Contract Duration
This is a two-month contract starting from the first week of August 2025.
