Job Title: Credit Officer

Job Summary
ACENET Microfinance is seeking a Credit Officer to support the growth and management of its loan portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for client training, loan appraisal, portfolio monitoring, and ensuring quality customer service. This role requires a proactive individual who can balance business growth with portfolio quality management in line with the organization’s mission of promoting financial inclusion.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

Implement business and action plans to grow both group and individual loan portfolios.

Conduct financial literacy training for microfinance clients to promote responsible borrowing and financial discipline.

Foster good customer relationships to build brand loyalty and ensure sustainable profitability.

Manage loans prudently, ensuring portfolio quality remains within acceptable standards.

Lead sales activities to achieve branch loan targets.
-
Profile key clients and stakeholders to strengthen business relationships.

Develop innovative business growth ideas that enhance loan performance.

Screen loan applications, ensuring compliance with credit policies and accuracy of client information.

Design and execute sales strategies to boost loan volumes and maintain quality.

Prepare and submit daily, weekly, monthly, and annual performance reports.

Support marketing initiatives to penetrate new market segments.
-
Train and mentor non-credit field staff on lending methodologies.
-
Provide feedback on organizational products, programs, and policies.
-
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Key Performance Indicators
-
Number of groups formed and trained in lending and financial literacy.
-
Loan portfolio growth in volume and quality (Portfolio at Risk (PAR) and Non-Performing Loans (NPA)).
-
Daily and weekly loan monitoring with timely follow-ups.
-
Active loan caseload and net portfolio growth (UGX).
-
Income generated through fees and commissions.
-
Loan repayment tracked to ensure timely payments.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
-
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Economics, Management, Statistics, Microfinance, or Social Sciences.

Postgraduate training in a relevant field is an added advantage.
Skills and Experience:

Strong attention to detail and high integrity.

Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and persuasion skills.

Entrepreneurial, proactive, and results-driven mindset.
-
Strong analytical and communication skills (both verbal and written).

Customer service orientation and business intelligence.
-
Fluency in Luo is a must.

Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid riding permit.

Proficiency in basic computer applications.
