Role Overview

The Credit Analyst will evaluate retail credit proposals, ensure compliance with the Bank’s Credit Policy, monitor post-disbursement performance, and support effective credit risk management across the assigned portfolio.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Credit Analysis and Evaluation

  • Review and evaluate retail credit proposals in line with the Bank’s Credit Policy.
  • Ensure timely review of existing credit facilities.
  • Prepare and submit high-quality Credit Application Memos (CAMs).
  • Analyze financial statements and cash-flow projections to support credit decisions.
  • Assess credit risk for personal and retail accounts and recommend appropriate terms and conditions.

Portfolio Monitoring and Risk Management

  • Monitor the retail credit portfolio to ensure compliance with approved terms and conditions.
  • Ensure all facilities are monitored throughout the post-disbursement phase.
  • Track and manage watch-listed accounts in collaboration with Branch Managers.
  • Follow up on action plans arising from monthly watch meetings.
  • Monitor daily exceptions including limit excesses and other non-compliance issues.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with the workplace banking team to obtain relevant information for credit evaluation.
  • Liaise with teams on excess reports, site visits, company financials, and supporting documentation.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure all credit facilities comply with the Credit Policy and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Maintain records of approved and declined credit facilities for continuous learning and improvement.
  • Escalate breaches of covenants, conditions, or risk triggers to the Head of Credit for corrective action.

Minimum Education Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline or its equivalent.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 to 8 years’ banking experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in core credit operations within the banking industry.

Required Competencies

  • Strong ability to analyze and evaluate credit proposals.
  • Sound understanding of business and credit risk management trends.
  • Ability to interpret financial statements and cash-flow analysis.
  • Strong coordination, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
