We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Collections Officer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and recovering overdue debts from clients while maintaining professional and respectful customer relationships. Your work will directly support the company’s financial health and client satisfaction goals.Key Responsibilities
Debt Follow-Up & Recovery
- Contact debtors via phone, SMS, and email to follow up on overdue payments.
- Negotiate effective and realistic repayment plans with clients.
- Track and monitor assigned accounts to ensure timely debt recovery.
- Escalate unresolved or high-risk accounts where necessary.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate, detailed records of all debtor communications and agreements.
- Generate weekly and monthly debt recovery reports for management review.
- Flag accounts requiring legal action or restructuring for further action.
Field Collections
- Conduct field visits to recover debts from high-ticket or non-responsive defaulters.
- Verify client addresses and assess their repayment capacity when required.
- Ensure field activities are documented and compliant with safety and legal guidelines.
Client Relations & Dispute Resolution
- Handle inquiries and disputes professionally and in a timely manner.
- Educate clients on payment terms and the consequences of non-compliance.
- Promote a positive image of the company while addressing client issues.
⚖️ Compliance & Ethics
- Adhere strictly to company policies and applicable debt collection regulations.
- Avoid aggressive or unethical recovery practices at all times.
- Protect the confidentiality of all client financial information.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Experience
- At least 1 year of experience in debt collection, credit control, or a related area.
Key Skills
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Good time management and ability to prioritize tasks under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with CRM or database tools.
Additional Advantages
- Training or certification in debt recovery or customer service is a plus.
- Experience in call center operations or field collection will be an added advantage.
- Fluency in English and one or more local languages is desirable.
