Position Overview

Centenary Publishing House is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Cashier to manage day-to-day financial transactions at our retail or office locations. The ideal candidate will process payments, handle customer inquiries, and ensure accurate financial reporting while upholding the highest customer service standards.


Key Responsibilities

As a Cashier, you will:

  • Process cash, card, and mobile money transactions for book and product sales.

  • Issue receipts, handle returns, and reconcile cash drawers at the close of each shift.

  • Offer courteous and professional service to customers, including answering product and pricing inquiries.

  • Maintain accurate transaction records and prepare daily financial summaries.

  • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and external regulations.

  • Work with the sales team to assist in stock tracking, restocking, and inventory support.


Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Certificate in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (Diploma is an added advantage).

  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in a cashier or financial role, preferably within retail or publishing.

  • Proficiency in basic accounting software and Point of Sale (POS) systems.

  • Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Fluency in English and at least one local language (e.g., Luganda).
