Role Overview

The Branch Manager will lead branch operations to achieve financial growth, strengthen customer relationships, ensure operational excellence, and build a high-performing team aligned with the Bank’s strategic objectives.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Growth and Business Development

  • Drive financial growth, sales performance, business development, and branch profitability.
  • Formulate and implement branch sales plans to increase new business and deepen relationships with existing customers.
  • Develop and manage a branch growth strategy based on market potential, competitor activity, and customer insights.
  • Collaborate with Service Delivery Managers, Asset Finance, Treasury, Corporate, and Direct Sales teams to maximize cross-selling opportunities.
  • Support product reviews and development through structured market feedback in collaboration with relevant business units.
  • Conduct continuous market intelligence to identify new opportunities, customer trends, regulatory changes, and government directives.

Customer Service Management

  • Ensure branch service delivery meets expected Cairo Bank Uganda standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationship management practices to enhance retention and value per customer.
  • Ensure strict adherence to turnaround times (TATs) and high service delivery standards.
  • Coordinate initiatives to gather customer feedback and recommend service improvements.

Operations, Risk, and Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with Bank policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
  • Ensure branch performance reports and statutory returns are timely and accurate.
  • Ensure adherence to KYC and AML requirements with complete and accurate documentation.
  • Manage operational risks to prevent losses arising from process failures.
  • Ensure all fees and commissions due to the Bank are collected.
  • Achieve a minimum “Satisfactory” audit rating through timely closure of audit exceptions.
  • Work closely with the Head of Operations on audits, inspections, risk monitoring, and issue resolution.

Leadership and People Management

  • Build, lead, and motivate a high-performing branch team.
  • Set clear performance objectives and provide regular feedback through structured appraisal processes.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, training, and guidance to support performance and professional growth.
  • Promote open communication, teamwork, and effective change management.
  • Identify skills gaps and support targeted training interventions.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Professional banking qualification or MBA is an added advantage.

Experience

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role within the banking industry.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Proven selling and business development capabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship management, and networking skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team player.
