We are currently seeking a skilled Auto–Technician (Mechanic) to join our service center in Mbarara, Uganda. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified mechanic who is passionate about vehicle diagnostics, repair, and maintenance, and who thrives in a fast-paced automotive workshop environment.
Job Summary
The Auto–Technician (Mechanic) will be responsible for the accurate diagnosis and efficient repair of customer vehicles, ensuring that all issues are resolved correctly on the first attempt. The role supports operational efficiency, boosts service throughput, enhances revenue growth, and ensures exceptional customer satisfaction.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Vehicle Diagnosis and Repair
-
Inspect, troubleshoot, and accurately diagnose mechanical, electrical, and engine-related issues in customer vehicles.

Perform repairs correctly on the first attempt to minimize repeat jobs and improve client trust.

Identify faulty parts, ensure correct replacements, and guarantee proper installation and fitment.
2. Maintenance and Inspections
-
Carry out routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid replacement, lubrication, and system checks.

Conduct comprehensive pre-delivery inspections for all new vehicles before handover to customers.
3. Quality and Safety Compliance
-
Adhere to Toyota service standards and ensure careful handling of customer vehicles, tools, and workshop equipment.

Strictly follow Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations, including correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
-
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in line with the company’s 5S standards.
4. Communication and Reporting
-
Prepare and submit clear and accurate defect reports to the supervisor.
-
Communicate diagnosed vehicle issues promptly, including updates on repeat jobs until complete resolution is achieved.
5. Continuous Improvement and Training
-
Participate in ongoing technical training programs to enhance skills.

Suggest innovative ways to improve service delivery, reduce downtime, and increase workshop productivity.
6. Other Duties
-
Perform any other assignments given by the supervisor that align with the role’s scope and operational needs.

Driving Competence: Skilled in operating both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
Qualifications and Experience

A Diploma or Certificate in Automotive Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

At least three (3) years’ experience working in a busy automotive workshop.

Valid driving permit with proven proficiency in both manual and automatic vehicles.

Familiarity with modern vehicle diagnostic tools and techniques is an added advantage.
