Role Overview
The Applications Support Officer will ensure optimal performance of core and non-core banking applications, support automation initiatives, maintain system integrity, and provide high-quality application support services to users in line with agreed service levels.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Application Management and Support
- Manage and support Core Banking Applications (CBA) and non-CBA systems to ensure optimal performance and availability.
- Develop, maintain, and regularly update operational documentation for supported applications.
- Perform system administration tasks including software installation, configuration, tuning, and performance monitoring.
- Administer and optimize Oracle and SQL databases.
- Perform complex queries for troubleshooting, reporting, and automation.
Programming and In-House Tools Development
- Design, write, test, and maintain code for in-house automation and application support tools.
- Develop and deploy custom software solutions to improve operational efficiency.
- Manage and enhance existing in-house tools to ensure reliability and alignment with business needs.
Automation and Process Improvement
- Lead automation initiatives using Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools.
- Identify manual processes suitable for automation and develop scalable solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation workflows with existing systems.
System Maintenance and Security
- Conduct routine system maintenance including backups, restorations, and disaster recovery testing.
- Monitor system health and proactively resolve potential issues.
- Ensure strict adherence to security protocols to protect systems and data.
Interface and Integration Management
- Supervise development and maintenance of interfaces between Core Banking Applications and third-party systems.
- Ensure robust integration, data consistency, and secure storage of end-of-day reports.
User Support and Training
- Provide timely and effective application support in line with SLA requirements.
- Develop and conduct user training to improve application usage and efficiency.
- Manage service desk operations and resolve escalated incidents.
Compliance, Documentation, and Service Levels
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, country regulations, and Ecobank Group standards.
- Prepare documentation and evidence for audits and compliance reviews.
- Maintain records of software licenses, service contracts, and maintenance agreements.
- Manage and monitor license, maintenance, and service level contracts.
Experience and Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Technical Experience
- Proven experience in Oracle and SQL database administration and advanced querying.
- Strong programming skills, preferably in Python, Java, SQL, or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools.
- Experience developing and maintaining in-house tools and automation solutions.
